3DVideoClips.net just launched!

3D videos are rapidly gaining popularity on the internet, so to capitalize on this current interest in  3D video ‘Rocking Headlines Limited’ have decided to launch their own website dedicated to bringing its viewers the best 3D content on the web. The brand new website 3DVideoClips.net aims to constantly provide its visitors with all the latest 3D video content available online.

Bryan O’Neil the founder of 3DVideoClips.net says that “3DvideoClips.net acts as a middleman, gathering quality 3D content from publishers around the world and bringing it to the public after it has passed a strict quality assurance process”. “Our goal is to carefully select what we publish and deliver only the best available content, saving our visitors from spending hours and hours going through various videos, only to discover that the vast majority are not what they are advertised as.”

The website aims to keep its contents fresh and up to date by delivering a minimum of two new 3D videos every single day. The website which is not dependent upon any video streaming providers has planned to allow the websites users to upload content before the new decade begins.

With the availability of 3D viewing glasses quickly expanding the website has no fears that people won’t be able to watch their online content, as all true 3D content isn’t visible to the naked eye. The websites founder estimates that by the end of 2010 a minimum of around 20% of internet users will have a set of viewing glasses at their disposal. The website will also have a section to teach its visitors on how to create their own 3D viewing glasses for a very small price.

Insight Media and InfoComm International are joining forces.

Insight Media and InfoComm International are joining forces to create a brand new 3D event called 3D Comm.

3D Comm is going to be held during the usual exhibition hours at the world’s largest professional AV trade show, InfoComm 2010, which is being held in Las Vegas and runs from June 9-11th 2010.

3D Comm is going to comprise of three key elements, those being; a 3D technology pavilion, 3D technology showcase and numerous 3D technology seminars.

The 3D Pavilion will showcase a number of 3D exhibits and host many demonstrations. This area will be aimed towards people interested in 3D products and services. Exhibitors of 3D content management, content acquisition hardware and software, compression and distribution of 3D display systems and many other areas of professional and consumer 3D will be allowed to exhibit within the technology pavilion.

The 3D technology showcase will be an area adjacent to the Pavilion and will be used for new, unique and special purpose 3D demonstrations.

The 3D Technology Seminars will be run away from the exhibition floor in a classroom like environment. These hour long sessions will aim to provide people with unbiased information on numerous aspects of the 3D ecosystem, which will help attendees gain useful knowledge about technology, applications and uses of 3D. These classes will be presented by 3D experts and will be offered in various levels.

A few of the preliminary topics for the 3D Seminars include:

  • Basics of 3D Displays
  • Advanced 3D Displays
  • Creating 3D Content is Tricky – Tips, Guidelines and Stories from an Industry Expert
  • Successful 3D Display Set Up
  • 3D in Professional Applications
  • 3D in the Home
  • 3D Encoding and Signal Management
  • Mixing 2D and 3D Content
  • Using 3D in ProAV: When, Where and Why

Provision Introduces 3D Holographic Advertising!

Provision Interactive Technologies Inc has recently published new data that reinforces their beliefs in their 3D advertising platform, 3DEO(TM).

The technology used by 3DEO provides advertisers with a unique and successful way to grab people’s attention amongst all the clutter of in-store adverts.

3DEO uses Provision’s patented 3D holographic displays to attract potential customers towards featured products which have the ability to dispense related promotions and coupons. Provision generates revenue by advertising throughout the 3DEO network of kiosks.

After deploying the 3DEO advertisements into 27 stores, Provision found that in comparison to regularly used 2D flat panel advertisements the 3DEO technology provided;

An increase in sales by up to 46%, coupon redemption increased by up to 800% over industry standards, 5 times as many people noticed the 3D display in comparison to the 2D displays usually used. Also, 57% of consumers could remember the product being advertised where as only 24% of people could recall the product featured on 2D flat panels.

Provisions 3D holographic technology was designed to disrupt consumers as they go about their day. Ad blindness is a term used to describe a state of subconscious or conscious ignorance of advertisements and it has unfortunately become commonplace for outdoor advertising, so the introduction of 3DEO advertisement systems is Provisions way of countering this current problem. Their 3D holographic display systems represent a revolutionary technology that gives a projection of full color and high resolution videos into an open space away from the screen which is visible without any viewing glasses. At this moment in time Provision is the market leader for true 3D advertising display products.

Projectiondesign® Win the at the Siel & Satis

ProjectDesign® the Norwegian manufacturer responsible for producing the F10 AS3D active stereoscopic 3D projector have just won the Trophées 2009 Siel & Satis in the ‘events’ category.
The prestigious award from Siel & Satis was awarded to projectiondesign’s sales manager, Thierry Ollivier at the ceremony which took place at the end of October. Annually Siel & Satis recognize and reward the world’s most innovative technology in the professional live events and audio visual communications industry.

According to the awards organizer, Stephan Faudeux, during the evaluation process the awards panel of judges agreed that ProjectDesign’s F10 AS3D projector stood out from the other competitors thanks to its innovative and active stereoscopic capabilities and usability.

The F10 AS3D active stereoscopic projector was introduced to the market back in 2008, and it was seen as revolutionary thanks to the way it enables stereoscopic visualization from a small, single lens chassis. The projector provides full Dual Head 3D stereoscopic content from various digital or analogue computer sources. The F10 AS3D is the first projector to use the new DLP link/White Light shutter glass synchronization technology which is used for higher brightness and better image quality.

Thierry Ollivier was thrilled that the projector was awarded with such a recognized prize and happily said that “the F10 AS3D projector represents the fast and expected growth in 3D visualization both in professional and consumer markets. Already after the show, we have received many requests from the staging and rental markets for a projector that easily switches between classic 2D and advanced 3D applications. Winning this award is testament to projectiondesign’s continued focus on developing technologies to provide professional users the best available active stereoscopic display and has wide appeal in immersive simulation and visualization as well as museums and leisure venues and video, film production and VFX creation.”

SUMA: Squeezable interface for 3D content

Cambridge Consultants, a product design and development firm, introduced SUMA, a uniquely intuitive and very low-cost squeezable user-interface technology aimed at 3D content interaction.

Suma is said to have full 3D highly sensitive control which brings gamers to another level! The patent for the sensor-system is still pending.

Suma’s sensor system converts 3D deformation of a squeezed object into a software-readable form. This enables highly sensitive control by finger movements and whole-hand grip without the need for cumbersome gloves or sensors.

Duncan Smith, head of Consumer Product Development at Cambridge Consultants explained, “Our hands are extraordinary instruments for control and communication. One of our earliest instincts as babies is to grip and grasp, and about a quarter of the motor cortex of the human brain is devoted to the muscles of the hand. Yet current input devices for computers and games do not fully exploit these capabilities.”

A prototype gaming-controller based on the new squeezable Suma technology will be seen at the Consumer Electronics Show in Las Vegas from 7-10 January 2010.
