Avatar Hits the Top Spot as Titanic Sinks

The 3D blockbuster Avatar has officially become the largest grossing movie of all time. Last week the film over took Titanic to become the highest grossing film worldwide, however it still hadn’t topped Titanic’s domestic grossing of $600 million. Since 1998, Titanic (another James Cameron epic) had ruled the ranking tables effortlessly, but now the futuristic Avatar has sunk the historical movie to second place.

Avatar has now taken over $601 million at the domestic box office which plunged Titanic into the number two spot where it is sure to stay for years to come. Unless Disney’s ‘Tron Legacy 3D’ which is set for a December 2010 release date lives up to its hype.
