AVATAR. The First Review.

Genius. Pure Genius.

Get ready to hear those infamous words once again… Only this time “I’m the king of the world” won’t be shouted from the front of a doomed ship by a young actor. This time those infamous words will be screamed by James Cameron himself, from the top of his new unsinkable, soon to be chart topping giant, AVATAR. Avatar had its World Premiere last night in London’s Leicester Square and all the stars were out in force to witness this epic blockbuster burst onto the big screen for the first time. James Cameron wrote the story for Avatar many years ago, however he ran into one big problem. He realized that the technology he needed to make create his vision didn’t exist. So Cameron took it upon himself to create the technology needed himself, in collaboration with the best special effects minds in the world. The film is 161 minutes long and flies by in no time. Cameron throws the audience straight into the film without any hint of a warning. During the first ten minutes the audience is introduced to everything that is needed to know for the remainder of the aesthetically pleasing film. The opening tells you about Pandora’s climate and largely deadly population, about the Avatar programme, Jake Sully’s situation and the ruthless plans of the human invaders. The battle for Pandora occupies most of the final third of the film and is completely enthralling. As with everything in “Avatar,” from the graphics to the music, Cameron has coolly thought everything through. With every piece of visual technology available to him, Cameron takes viewers through the battlefield like a master tactician. He demonstrates how every turn in the fight, every valiant death or cowardly act, changes the battles course. The cinematography which was Mauro Fiore’s responsibility is nothing short of amazing. The inspiring cinematography melts all the visual elements of Pandora into a science fiction whole, the film is so engrossing that you actually start to believe in Pandora. Unfortunately, not too much can be said about the film until it is officially released worldwide for public viewing, however I would just like to include a few twitter updates from people who attended the Avatar premiere; ‘‘The AVATAR buzz is an understatement. That movie was unbelievable’ and Alex Billington from FirstShowing proudly said ‘James Cameron is a freakin’ genius! I can’t say much but wow, I loved it. Avatar was phenomenal, pretty much blew me away’ Avatar is a must see in 3D, as the films unparalleled and perfectly constructed use of the three dimensional technique expertly envelopes you in exotic surroundings of Pandora. No doubt about it James Cameron will be getting a ‘Best Director’ nomination at the Oscars next year. The only uncertainty that surrounds Avatar is how is James Cameron going to top this in the future? It’s been over a decade since Titanic was released, but now James Cameron is back and is certainly bigger and better than ever. AVATAR will be released on December 18th and is viewable in 2D, Digital 3D and the fully immersive experience that is, IMAX 3D!

Since, the 3-dimension had virtually no negative Z-axis as a 3D’s film it is virtually useless despite the marketing hype about Avatar.

There are numerous 2-dimensional films, which are more 3-dimensional than Avatar: Blue Planet, Day After Tomorrow, Jurassic Park, Jaws, and Crouching the Dragon, Alien & Predator, Matrix, Harry Potter, Spiderman, Batman, Indiana Jones, The Ten Commandments, and Star Wars etcetera.

The following 3D’s and 4D’s films are superior; IMAX’s 3D films (roller coasters), 4D’s film for example at the London Eye and simulators etcetera.

Apart for a few snow flakes falling in front of the screen what other negative Z-axis objects were there?
