The HDMI Licensing Group recently made the 3D portion of the HDMI 1.4 specification available for download. The 3D portion of the HDMI 1.4 specification was originally only available to licensees that had signed the HDMI Adopter Agreement but it is now available for public download through the HDMI website.

It was made available so that non-licensees will have access to the specifications and be able to make their future technologies compatible with the new 1.4 HDMI and 3D format.

HDMI 1.4 is the most powerful and newest version of the HDMI standard. It’s designed to enrich the HD experience and it is capable of supporting 3D and 4K video resolutions and much more.

The HDMI Licensing Group also has plans to release a 1.4a version of the specification. The 1.4a HDMI specification will include updates to the 3D portion of the spec and it will also be made available for public download when it becomes available.
