Panasonic Reveals Price and Release Date for 3D Displays

Recently at a Panasonic press conference in Japan, Panasonic revealed that it will be releasing its HD 3D TV’s onto the Japanese consumer market on April 23rd. The Panasonic VIERA VT2 Series being made available in Japan consists of the 3D ready 54 inch TH-P54VT2 and the 50 inch TH-P50VT2 displays.  Unfortunately, no indication was given by Panasonic as to when the 3D technology will be released worldwide. The 54” TH-P54VT display will cost $5,900, whereas the 50” TH-P50VT2 will cost $4,800.

The two 3D displays utilize a 5,000,000:1 contrast ratio and come with multiple TV tuners, 4 HDMI ports, 16×4cm×2 speakers with a built-in subwoofer, VIERA link features and web connectivity, to allow for content streaming. The displays also utilize active shutter glasses technology in order to make the 3D content viewable.
