Sky TV is planning to launch their very first 3D channel in 2010, and to help spread the word Sky claim they have created the first ever 3D cinema advertisement. Sky’s 3D service will offer audiences a channel that is dedicated to broadcasting quality 3D programming on a daily basis. The trailer for Sky’s 3D channel will be screened before all showings of James Cameron’s 3D blockbuster, AVATAR, which is released today.
Digital cinema is the only media currently available that can deliver a high quality 3D image to a mass audience, so it makes perfect sense that Sky would try to reach audiences who are clearly already interested in the 3D.
Sky’s director of product management, Hilary Perchard announced that, “As we move towards the launch of the UK’s first 3D TV services, these are our first steps in widening public awareness of the service and providing a ‘seeing is believing’ experience”.
I went to see Alice in Wonderland the other night and there was an Advert saying that Sky 3D will properly launch in autumn 2010!!!
