Surgeons begin operating using HD 3D intuitive technology.

It has been announced that Citrus Valley Health Partners are the first full-service hospital system to offer its patients surgery using the new, most advanced version of the ‘Intuitive Surgical’s da Vinci Si HD system’ technology. The da Vinci Si HD system integrates three dimensional high-definition endoscopy (which is surgery that is performed through small holes in a patient’s body) and state of the art technology to virtually extend the surgeons hands and eyes when operating. This new 3D HD visualization gives the surgeon a panoramic view, which results in the highest possible viewing area and resolution. The technology is still in its early days, however the president and CEO of Citrus Valley Health Partners said that “We are only starting to realize the full potential of this new technology.”

Bump Top! The 3D desktop experience.

If you are sick of looking at the same old isolated two dimensional desktop which has barely changed over the last 20 years then we have just the thing for you! Bump Top is an alternative 3D desktop which enables users to visually connect with their desktops. It is described by its creators as having ‘the natural feel of a desk only with the power of a computer underneath to help make you more productive’. It has one flat layer which has three ‘walls’ surrounding it, one horizontally and two vertically.  The 3D desktop allows you to pin your most important files on one of the surrounding walls which helps to make them more prominent in comparison to others. This is especially ideal for any important files that you may not want to forget about. As well as moving files to these walls, Bump Top allows you to create ‘sticky notes’ which you can simply keep reminders on and then stick them to your wall. Such as; ‘Stop playing on your computer and do your laundry!!!’

The files that are in use most regularly become larger than other files which aren’t used quite as much, which again makes particular icons and files easier to find. As well as things becoming larger, Bump Top lets you create piles of files as you would in real life. Using these piles is an extremely easy way to keep organized and your desktop clutter free! With the piles you can simply scroll though them to see the files, like you would to glance at a magazine’s pages. Within this fully 3D space, all walls are clickable and when clicked they will move you to focus on a particular viewpoint. As well as Bump Top being ideal for keeping things tidy, it has the ability to keep you up to date with what’s happening in your friends and families lives from just looking at your desktop. From the Bump Top desktop you can create a photo frame within which all your friends’ online photo feeds will become viewable, or you can simply drag a picture onto the facebook or twitter widget and it will be automatically uploaded to the social networking site. So if you and your computer fancy a change, then we recommend that a three dimensional desktop is a good place to start.
