A brand new trailer has hit the internet for Disney’s upcoming Tron Legacy 3D. The 3D movie which is reportedly going to give Avatar a run for its money will hit movie theaters worldwide in 2D, digital 3D and IMAX 3D, December 17th, 2010. Watch the stunning new official trailer here.

TRON LEGACY is a high-tech 3D adventure set in a digital world. Sam Flynn (Garrett Hedlund), the tech-savvy son of Kevin Flynn (Jeff Bridges), looks into his fathers disappearance and finds himself pulled into the same world of fierce programs and games where his father has been living for 25 years. Along with Kevins loyal confidant, the father and son embark on a life-and-death journey through a visually-stunning cyber universe that has become much more advanced and exceedingly dangerous in comparison to the original Disney movie.

At this years 82nd Annual Academy Awards the battle between 2D and 3D was truly on. James Cameron’s 3D epic ‘Avatar’ was up against his ex-wife, Kathryn Bigelow’s 2D war-zone drama ‘The Hurt Locker’. Avatar was nominated for nine awards in total but only won three of its categories. It won Oscars for; Best Art Direction, Cinematography and Visual Effects.

The majority of people expected Avatar to come out victorious in the Best Picture and Director categories, however ‘The Hurt Locker’ blew Avatar away and won the ceremonies two big Oscars. Read the rest of this entry »

The IMAX Corporation revealed that IMAX screenings of Avatar passed the $200 million mark this weekend. Now in its tenth weekend, Avatar grossed $4.3 million from 179 IMAX theaters domestically. Avatar also took $3.9 million from 84 IMAX theaters internationally.

A brand new trailer for the third installment of the Toy Story franchise has recently been revealed and you can see the trailer here. The eagerly anticipated Disney/Pixar production, Toy Story 3, takes place six years after Toy Story 2 and the story focuses on Andy heading off to college. This leaves Woody, Buzz and the gang all worried about their uncertain future. The toys are accidentally donated to Sunnyside Daycare Center where they befriend toys such as; Lots-O’-Huggin’ “Lotso” Bear, Mr. Prickle-pants the Hedgehog and a smooth-talking Ken doll. The toys are keen on starting a new life at the daycare but they then discover that Andy is actively searching for them, so they decide to escape.

According to reports, a mountain in China has been renamed to honor James Camerons 3D epic, Avatar. The Southern Sky Column in Zhangjiajie, Hunan province is claimed to of inspired the scenery in the sci-fi adventure. The mountains new name is reported to be, the Avatar Hallelujah Mountain. Local Chinese officials said that images of the mountain were used as the basis for Pandora’s stunning landscape. To date, Avatar has made $80 million at the Chinese box office which makes it the most popular film ever in China, despite the movie having all its 2D theater versions cancelled.

Paradise FX, Vertigo Films and Post Republic recently joined forces to create, Paradise FX Europe. The company is the first one stop shop for 3D production in Europe. Paradise FX Europe was created with the plan to work alongside filmmakers on live-action features and advertising projects, from conception through to the post-production stages.
