Lady Gaga Plans 3D Concert & 3D DVD

What do The Jonas Brothers and Lady Gaga have in common? Apart from the obvious answer of bad music. That’s right, 3D concerts. The controversial and popular female musician Lady Gaga will soon be bringing the 3D Concert experience to her fans, which is reported to be followed by the release of a 3D concert DVD.

With the launch of her album ‘The Fame Monster’ in December last year, a set of 3D glasses were included in the CD case, telling Gaga fans that they will be useful for things happening soon. In a recent interview with MTV, a spokesperson for Lady Gaga revealed, “There are talks about a 3D concert and DVD in the near future”.

Michael Bay Discusses Transformers 3 3D

Michael Bay, the self proclaimed ‘old school’ director recently voiced his negative opinion towards 3D and made it public knowledge that he is set against it. However, in recent developments it now appears that Bay will be adopting the much loved 3D format for the third installment of the Transformers franchise.

In a recent interview with MTV, Michael Bay announced, “It’s a process we’re testing with some ‘Transformers’ scenes. How successful it is with my movie in terms of a lot of real stuff coming out of the frame, real dirt, real complicated little particles coming towards the lens, because hopefully that process will work. I’ve seen some tests that look great on other movies. I just want to see how it looks on my footage.”

The Great 3D Race Has Begun

Samsung has jumped ahead by launching 3D HD TV’s in South Korea. As of the 25th February you can buy a Samsung 3D HD TV. Furthermore, Samsung has inked an exclusive 3D content deal with DreamWorks. At CES 2010 Monsters Vs Aliens was shown as the world’s first 3D Blu-ray disc. The disc will only be available when you purchase a Samsung 3D TV or 3D Blu-ray player. Read the rest of this entry »

Breck Eisner to Direct Flash Gordon 3D

Breck Eisner the man behind the eagerly anticipated ‘The Crazies’  recently revealed information about his new project, Flash Gordon 3D. For Flash Gordon, the director intends to go to the roots of the comic-strip and bring the character to life in an original way by avoiding the camp 1980’s movie version of Flash Gordon.

According to Eisner, Flash Gordon will be a 3D movie, no doubt about it. In a recent interview he said “This will definitely be a 3D movie. When it’s the right kind of movie, you want to use the right kind of technology, so we intend to shoot it for 3D.” Read the rest of this entry »

Samsung Release 3D Technology in South Korea

Samsung this week released four 3D TV’s in South Korea and plans to release the same models in global markets next month. LG are also planning to release its 3D displays in March in its home market of South Korea. That will then be followed up in April by the release of LG’s 3D technology worldwide.

Samsung and LG look as though they will be holding their leadership statuses in flat panel TV’s as the technology advances into the ‘next generation’ HD 3D format.

MSI to Reveal 3D All-in-One PC in Germany

At last month’s Consumer Electronics Show, MSI revealed three concept ideas, one of which was the all-in-one (AIOs) 3D Wind Top PC. At CeBit 2010 which begins March 2nd in Hannover, Germany MSI plan to once again reveal the 3D Wind Top which is a 24”, 120Hz LED all-in-one PC.  It will offer its users full 1080p resolution and 3D content when viewed with shutter glasses. Unfortunately, at this moment in time details are scarce on the 3D Wind Top.

Philips SuperWideScreen 3D Display Coming Soon

Philips has revealed that they will be combining the superwidescreen format with stereoscopic 3D technology to bring the home entertainment viewing experience to a new level with their upcoming Philips Cinema 21:9 3D TV. Later this week an official announcement is expected to be made which will include information on the Philips Cinema 21:9 3D TV’s release date and full specifications.

Samsung Reveal 3D Displays UK Release Date

Samsung recently announced the official UK release date for its 3D Blu-ray player and brand new line up of HD 3D TV’s. The 3D technology will be made available next month (March), which comes just in time for the April launch date of Sky’s dedicated 3D TV channel.

Sky’s upcoming 3D service recently witnessed great success in its trial run, for which it screened the live premiership soccer clash between Manchester United and Arsenal.

Samsung’s 3D TV’s Now Available on Amazon

Samsung’s first 3D HDTVs were recently made available for preorder online at amazon.com. The 1.1-inch thin, edge-lit LED C7000 series will be made available in 40”, 46” and 55” screen sizes. Unfortunately, 3D viewing glasses appear to be missing from the advertised package and there is no set price or retailer for them either. 3D Training Coming Soon for the UK

The UK Film Council, Sky and Skillset recently revealed a newly formed partnership that was created with the aim of developing and running a 3D training scheme for the UK film and TV industries. The scheme has a budget of £140,000 (around $221,000) and will pay for a wide variety of specialist training in the stereoscopic 3D format. The training course will be aimed towards professionals that are looking to improve their skills as well as offering basic training for people looking to move into 3D production.
