The much-awaited FinePix REAL 3D system is now available in the United States. Early this year, Fujifilm announced this 3D technology system that captures realistic 3D images and movies that can be enjoyed without the need of glasses. Go Miyazaki, division president, Electronic Imaging Division, Fujifilm U.S.A., Inc. stated, “The FinePix REAL 3D system is unlike any other digital imaging product on the market today, and the first real, complete solution for 3D digital photography, putting Fujifilm at the forefront of imaging technology. With the FinePix REAL 3D system, Fujifilm is offering users a totally new experience in both still pictures and movies to capture precious moments just as their eyes see them.” A twin product, “FinePix REAL 3D V1,” a digital 3D viewer, features Fujifilm’s newly developed 3D/2D display 8.0-inch LCD panel. This technology was also announced by Fujifilm. This allows users to enjoy and playback 3D images without the need for special 3D glasses, too. The FujiFilm 3D: The FinePix REAL 3D W1 camera can take both 3D pictures and 3D video and will go on sale in September 2009 in Britian. The FinePix REAL 3D W1 camera looks like a normal digital camera, but it has two lenses and two sensors, which allows it to be able to take an image of the foreground and the background of any picture. The FinePix REAL 3D W1 camera has 10.0 million pixels, a 3x optical zoom lens, a zoom of up to 3.8x (Combined optical and digital zoom) for 3D and up to 17.1x (Combined optical 3x zoom and digital 5.7x zoom) for 2D, has a 2.8-inch LCD display, and weighs approximately 260g / 9.2oz (excluding accessories, batteries and memory) Full details is available on Fujifilm’s website.
