Sucker Punch 3D is being directed by Zack Snyder, who will be releasing his first 3D movie later this year, ‘Legend of the Guardians: The Owls of Ga’Hoole’. Snyder has previously had IMAX success with his hit movies such as ‘Watchmen’ and ‘300’.
Sucker Punch will be released in IMAX 3D worldwide on March 25th, 2011.
Warner Brothers and IMAX recently signed an agreement that will bring around 20 Warner Brothers movies to the IMAX Experience over the next three years (2010-2013), including the much anticipated final two Harry movies in 3D.
Greg Foster, Chairman and President of IMAX Filmed Entertainment announced, “Zack Snyder embraces the IMAX format in a truly unique way, and by way of his past IMAX releases, he has created his own unique brand of The IMAX Experience that audiences love. This is a very welcome addition to our Warner Bros. slate of “all-star” titles and we’re looking forward to opening day next March.”
Richard L. Gelfond, CEO of IMAX said, “Zack Snyder’s unique vision and successful track-record makes him an important member of the IMAX family and we’re looking forward to his next film, which we believe is a great addition to our lineup of exciting Warner Bros. films. Our digital theatre system has accelerated the growth of our theatre network and provides us with significant flexibility in the release and programming schedule in our theatres, which enables us to offer this film to even more fans of Zack Snyder and IMAX.”
